Make the checks · a name and a record
Check the clinician's Florida licence
Get the name of the person who would assess you. Then match that name to a state record. A business name alone leaves too much unanswered.
Get the name used on the licence
Ask for the clinician's full name, profession, and licence details. If a service has only given you its own business name, ask again for the person.
Open the state search
Florida's health department offers a free search for licence status, information about health professionals, and any recorded penalties.
Penalties may include a fine, limits on the person's work, or loss of their licence.
Open the state's search website using the link below. Choose License Verification, which means checking a licence. Search with the name and profession you were given.
Open Florida's health licence searchMatch the name and read the status
Compare the record with the clinician's details. Check whether the licence is current and whether any penalties are listed. Ask the service to explain a penalty or any details that do not match.
A record with no listed penalties tells you none is recorded; it does not rate the clinician's skill.
Check the other route for someone based elsewhere
Telehealth means care given at a distance, such as over a screen.
As of September 2026, Florida also publishes records for clinicians registered for out-of-state telehealth.
Ask for that registration record if the person uses this route. Compare their home-state licence and the Florida registration details.
Under the September 2026 rules, this registration does not permit in-person care in Florida.

Save the record you checked. Then ask about experience with your problem, the proposed drug, and how follow-up works. The lookup is a starting point for that conversation.
